Unconditional Love (Donna Summer Song)

Unconditional Love (Donna Summer Song)

"Unconditional Love" is the second single from the Donna Summer album She Works Hard for the Money, released in the autumn of 1983. Though uncredited, it also features vocals by British reggae act Musical Youth, who scored a Top 10 Pop and R&B hit in the US with Pass the Dutchie earlier in 1983.

The song was a commercial disappointment, peaking at #43 on the Billboard Hot 100, though it performed significantly better on the R&B chart (reaching the Top Ten). In the UK, it became Summer's fourteenth Top 20 single, reaching a peak position of #14. The song was edited from the original album version for its release on the 7" single format. The 12" single featured an extended 6 minute remix.

My fatherhood made me understand my parents and to honor them more for the love they gave. My sonhood was revealed to me in its own perfection and I understood the reason the Chinese so value filiality, the responsibility of the son to honor the parents.
    Kent Nerburn (20th century)

The very locusts and crickets of a summer day are but later or earlier glosses on the Dherma Sastra of the Hindoos, a continuation of the sacred code.
