Unanimous Decision

A unanimous decision is a winning criterion in several full-contact combat sports, such as boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, mixed martial arts and others sports involving striking in which all three judges agree on which fighter won the match.

In boxing, each of the three judges keep score (round by round) of which fighter he / she feels is winning (and losing). A decision isn't required to be unanimous for a boxer to be given a victory. Unaninmous decision shouldn't be confused with a majority decision or split decision.

A unanimous decision is also sometimes referred to as a "win on points".

Famous quotes containing the words unanimous and/or decision:

Oxford is a little aristocracy in itself, numerous and dignified enough to rank with other estates in the realm; and where fame and secular promotion are to be had for study, and in a direction which has the unanimous respect of all cultivated nations.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The impulse to perfection cannot exist where the definition of perfection is the arbitrary decision of authority. That which is born in loneliness and from the heart cannot be defended against the judgment of a committee of sycophants. The volatile essences which make literature cannot survive the clichés of a long series of story conferences.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)
