UMW Rowing

UMW Rowing

The University of Mary Washington rowing program is in its eighth varsity season after a lengthy tenure as a club sport. A division three school, the relatively recent program is one of only a few dozen of its size on the eastern coast. It is a year round sport with head races in the fall, and sprints in the spring. The team practised at Lake of the Woods until the fall of 2007 when it relocated to the Rappahanock River, a mile from campus. The team currently rows at Hope Springs Marina in Stafford, Virginia. It is about a 20 minute drive from campus, and UMW provides vans for the team to get to and from the site.

The team competes at its practice venue, the ECAC National Invitational; the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, NJ; the NCAA Championships for women and the IRA National Championships for men in late May.
