It is important to protect oneself form Ultraviolet radiation year round, UV rays can reach the skin not only on sunny days but cloudy days as well. UV rays are strongest between 10 am and 4 pm during spring summer and fall months. UVA rays can penetrate through glass, to block these rays use a UV protective film on windows. The center for Disease Control and Prevention recommend the following to protect from UV radiation.

Stay in the shade, especially in the middle of the day

Wear protective clothing

Wear sunscreen that blocks both UVA and UVB rays (SPF 15 or higher)

Sunglasses that wrap around the side of the face to block as many UV rays as possible

Avoid indoor tanning. Indoor tanning can be linked to all three types of skin cancer. Tanning beds can produce doses of UVA 12 times higher than that of the sun. People who expose their skin to indoor tanning beds are 75% more likely to develop skin cancer.
