UCF Knights Football - Schedule

Schedule

Once UCF joins the Big East in July 2013, they will be one of 12 members of the newly-expanded Big East. The Knights will compete in the newly-formed East Division, as prior to the 2013 season, the Big East did not have enough teams to form divisions. UCF will play an eight-game conference schedule, four home and four away. Five of these contests pit the Knights against the other members of the East Division: Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Rutgers and South Florida. The conference schedule is filled out with three games against foes from the West Division on a rotating basis. These games operate on a two-year cycle, as a home-and-home series.

On September 4, 2010, UCF announced that it had finalized its non-conference football schedule through 2013, and had games scheduled through 2017. Among the games scheduled are home-and-away series with BYU (2011 away, 2014 home), Akron (2012 away, 2013 home), South Carolina (2013 home, 2015 away) and Maryland (2016 away, 2017 home). They also have an away game against Texas (2017). Of note is that the game against the Longhorns will be the final game of a three-game contract between UCF and Texas. The contract was organized as such: for the first game, the Knights would host the Longhorns to open up their new stadium, Bright House Networks Stadium; the remaining games (one was played in 2009) would be played at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium, the home stadium of the Longhorns, as a "repayment" for opening UCF's new stadium. The Knights will also participate in a 4-game series with FIU from 2011–2014, which started with a 2011 away game at FIU Stadium in Miami. The profile of this series was increased when FIU won the Sun Belt Conference championship in 2010, and their move to C-USA in 2013.
