UCC Students' Union - Associations

Associations

UCCSU is an active member of Union of Students in Ireland - a body whom the students of UCC pay upward of €75,000 in membership and more in running costs to associate themselves with.

UCCSU was also one of the more active members of FUSU (Forum of University Students' Unions), however it has disbanded since 2009. It has since been replaced by an ad-hoc group composed of the University Students' Union Presidents, known as 'USUP'.

Famous quotes containing the word associations:

Hardly a man in the world has an opinion upon morals, politics or religion which he got otherwise than through his associations and sympathies. Broadly speaking, there are none but corn-pone opinions. And broadly speaking, Corn-Pone stands for Self- Approval. Self-approval is acquired mainly from the approval of other people. The result is Conformity.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)

There is ... no glamor at banquets—I mean the large formal banquets of big associations and societies. There is only a kind of dignified confusion that gradually unhinges the mind.
    James Thurber (1894–1961)

Wild as it was, it was hard for me to get rid of the associations of the settlements. Any steady and monotonous sound, to which I did not distinctly attend, passed for a sound of human industry.... Our minds anywhere, when left to themselves, are always thus busily drawing conclusions from false premises.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
