Tyrese Darnell Gibson - Acting Career

Acting Career

As an actor, he rose to prominence when he starred in John Singleton's Baby Boy in 2001, which Singleton has confirmed as a prequel of Boyz n the Hood, in which he wrote and directed 10 years earlier in 1991. Tupac Shakur was originally chosen to play the character of Joseph "Jody" Summers, but the role landed into Gibson's hands after Tupac's death. Baby Boy co-starred Taraji P. Henson and Snoop Dogg and it became a blockbuster hit. The film lead Gibson into doing two more films with Singleton in 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003) alongside Paul Walker and Eva Mendes, and Four Brothers (2005), with Mark Wahlberg, André Benjamin (Andre 3000), and Garrett Hedlund. Both films were box-office hits in the summers of 2003 and 2005 respectively. Gibson went on to act in Waist Deep in 2006, starring Meagan Good. In 2007, he co-starred with the ensemble cast of Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, Megan Fox, Anthony Anderson and Jon Voight in Transformers. It was a blockbuster smash that led to two more successful sequels; Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) and Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011), playing his role of USAF Master Sergeant Robert Epps. In 2008, he co-starred opposite Jason Statham in Death Race, and then Legion in 2010. In 2011, he reprised his role of Roman Pearce in Fast Five, and will reprise the role in the upcoming 2013 film Fast and Furious 6.

Famous quotes containing the words acting and/or career:

She does not realize that the only difference between us is that she is on one stage and I on another. I feel that I am acting just as much as she is.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)

What exacerbates the strain in the working class is the absence of money to pay for services they need, economic insecurity, poor daycare, and lack of dignity and boredom in each partner’s job. What exacerbates it in upper-middle class is the instability of paid help and the enormous demands of the career system in which both partners become willing believers. But the tug between traditional and egalitarian models of marriage runs from top to bottom of the class ladder.
    Arlie Hochschild (20th century)
