History

The land that Twenhofel Middle School is currently located on was donated by Dr. William Twenhofel. Dr. Twenhofel was a noted geologist, botanist and educator. The land was part of his father's farm that he wished to be used for the education of middle school students in Kenton County. Twenhofel Middle School was founded in 1961. In 2006, a new, state-of-the-art, green school opened its doors to an excited and eager community. Nestled in Independence, the heart of Kenton County, Twenhofel boasts an enrollment of approximately 815 students and a staff of approximately 85.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

All history is a record of the power of minorities, and of minorities of one.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

In the history of the human mind, these glowing and ruddy fables precede the noonday thoughts of men, as Aurora the sun’s rays. The matutine intellect of the poet, keeping in advance of the glare of philosophy, always dwells in this auroral atmosphere.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Every literary critic believes he will outwit history and have the last word.
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
