Tuberculin - Modern Testing For Tuberculosis

Modern Testing For Tuberculosis

The test used in the United States at present is referred to as the Mantoux test. An alternative test called the Heaf test was used in the United Kingdom until 2005, although the UK now uses the Mantoux test in line with the rest of the world. Both of these tests use the tuberculin derivative PPD (purified protein derivative).

Famous quotes containing the words modern, testing and/or tuberculosis:

The modern woman is the curse of the universe. A disaster, that’s what. She thinks that before her arrival on the scene no woman ever did anything worthwhile before, no woman was ever liberated until her time, no woman really ever amounted to anything.
    Adela Rogers St. Johns (1894–1988)

No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it.
Bible: New Testament, 1 Corinthians 10:13.

With sighs more lunar than bronchial,
    Howbeit eluding fallopian diagnosis,
She simpers into the tribal library and reads
That Keats died of tuberculosis . . .
    Allen Tate (1899–1979)
