TSV Landsberg - Local Competition

Local Competition

In the town of Landsberg, like many other small southern Bavarian towns, football has never been the dominant sport. The local ice hockey club, EV Landsberg 2000, currently playing in the 2nd Bundesliga (II), is much more popular and successful. Against this, the TSV has a hard stand in attracting support and sponsorships.

Famous quotes containing the words local and/or competition:

The improved American highway system ... isolated the American-in-transit. On his speedway ... he had no contact with the towns which he by-passed. If he stopped for food or gas, he was served no local fare or local fuel, but had one of Howard Johnson’s nationally branded ice cream flavors, and so many gallons of Exxon. This vast ocean of superhighways was nearly as free of culture as the sea traversed by the Mayflower Pilgrims.
    Daniel J. Boorstin (b. 1914)

Knowledge in the form of an informational commodity indispensable to productive power is already, and will continue to be, a major—perhaps the major—stake in the worldwide competition for power. It is conceivable that the nation-states will one day fight for control of information, just as they battled in the past for control over territory, and afterwards for control over access to and exploitation of raw materials and cheap labor.
    Jean François Lyotard (b. 1924)
