The name Ann has been used for three tropical cyclones in the western north Pacific Ocean. It should not be confused with the similar names of Ana or Anna.
- Tropical Storm Ann (1945)
- Tropical Storm Ann (1996) (T9602, 02W, Biring), minimal impact in the Philippines
- Tropical Storm Ann (1999) (T9917, 23W), approached the Chinese coast to the north of Shanghai, then crossed the Yellow Sea before dissipating just off the South Korean coast
Famous quotes containing the words tropical, storm and/or ann:
“Physical force has no value, where there is nothing else. Snow in snow-banks, fire in volcanoes and solfataras is cheap. The luxury of ice is in tropical countries, and midsummer days. The luxury of fire is, to have a little on our hearth; and of electricity, not the volleys of the charged cloud, but the manageable stream on the battery-wires. So of spirit, or energy; the rests or remains of it in the civil and moral man, are worth all the cannibals in the Pacific.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Thus thinne and lean without a fence or friend,
I was blown through with evry storm and winde.”
—George Herbert (15931633)
“In all failures, the beginning is certainly the half of the whole.”
—George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)
