Cyclones forming in this area can affect Madagascar, Mozambique, Mauritius, Réunion, Comoros, Tanzania, and Kenya. An average of about ten tropical cyclones form in this basin per year, and this basin, annually, is the deadliest worldwide, with up to 80 deaths in every season.
