Traumatic Amputation - Cause

Cause

Traumatic Amputation occurred for approximately 1 in 20,000 people worldwide in 2012. Loss of limb usually happened in the course of an accident, but sometimes later after medical complications. The most common causes of traumatic amputations are:

  • Traffic accidents
  • Work (equipments, instruments, cylinders, chain saws, press machines, meat machines, wood machines, etc)
  • Agricultural accidents, with machines and mower equipment
  • Electric shock
  • Guns, weapons, and explosives, dynamite, bombs, fireworks, terrorism attacks, etc.
  • Violent rupture of ship rope or industry wire rope
  • Ring traction (ring amputation, de-gloving)
  • Building and car doors.
  • Rare accidents.
