Transport in Warrington - Air

Air

Although, Warrington itself does not have an airport, it is within half an hour (by road) of two international airports : Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Manchester Airport, each with a mix of various international, European, domestic and regional flights. You can reach Manchester Airport by train (via Piccadilly Station in Manchester).

At one point Warrington was home to a world famous military airfield used intensively during the World War Two at Burtonwood. Now the runway is part of the M62 and the area has now been transformed into Gemini business park. When driving down the M62 one can still see some of the old aircraft hangars that are now home to various businesses.

Famous quotes containing the word air:

The air is precious to the red man, for all things share the same breath—the beast, the tree, the man, they all share the same breath. The white man does not seem to notice the air he breathes. Like a man dying for many days, he is numb to the stench.
    Attributed to Seattle (c. 1784–1866)

A hook shot kisses the rim and
hangs there, helplessly, but doesn’t drop

and for once our gangly starting center
boxes out his man and times his jump

    perfectly, gathering the orange leather
from the air like a cherished possession
    Edward Hirsch (b. 1950)

    But not luck
    brought us here. By design
clear air and cold wind polish
    the river lights, by design
we are to live now in a new place.
    Denise Levertov (b. 1923)
