Main article: Human rights in TransnistriaThe human rights record of Transnistria has been criticised by several governments and international organizations. The 2007 Freedom in the World report, published by the US-based Freedom House, described Transnistria as a "non-free" territory, having an equally bad situation in both political rights and civil liberties.
According to the U.S. Department of State report referring to year 2006;
