A Life in Pictures Series

Another hallmark of the company was pictorial autobiographies of legendary athletes, including Henry Aaron (with Dick Schaap), Ted Williams (with David Pietrusza) and Wayne Gretzky (with John Davidson). Famous quotes containing the words life, pictures and/or series:

If certain, when this life was out—
That your’s and mine, should be—
I’d toss it yonder, like a Rind,
    And take Eternity—
    Emily Dickinson (1830–1886)

We don’t know any more about pictures than a kangaroo does about metaphysics.... To us, the great uncultivated, it is the last thing in the world to call a picture. Brown said it looked like an old fire- board.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)

The professional celebrity, male and female, is the crowning result of the star system of a society that makes a fetish of competition. C. Wright Mills (1916–1962)
