Famous quotes containing the words charges and/or laid:

I have never injured anybody with a mordant poem; my
verse contains charges against nobody. Ingenuous, I have
shunned wit steeped in venom—not a letter of mine is dipped
    in poisonous jest.
    Ovid (Publius Ovidius Naso)

And when thy heart is laid to rest
    Beneath the church-yard stone
I shall have time enough to mourn
    And thou to be alone.”
    Emily Brontë (1818–1848)
