Top-Tracks was a fully automated XM classic rock channel. The station was available on XM 46 and DirecTV Channel 833 . The channel focuses on classic rock artists such as The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, and some one-hit-wonders. Most of the music is from the 1960s and 70's with very few exceptions such as John Lennon's songs from the 1980 album Double Fantasy just before his murder. "Top Tracks" also had a list of the top 46 most influential rock albums that it will play samples of occasionally.
The station is the audio for the DirecTV channel that shows the day's scheduled pay-per-view sporting events, as well as pregame and postgame feeds on the channels themselves.
As a result of the Sirius-XM merger, this channel merged with Classic Vinyl on November 12, 2008. Although the Classic Vinyl name was carried over, the on-air format is largely that of Top Tracks, with the DJ's from Classic Vinyl still making on-air appearances from time to time.
Famous quotes containing the words top and/or tracks:
“She might have been old once and now, miraculously, young againbut with the memory of that other life intact. She seemed to know the world down there in the dark hall and beyond for what it was. Yet knowing, she still longed to leave this safe, sunlit place at the top of the house for the challenge there.”
—Paule Marshall (b. 1929)
“Leonid Ivanovich Shigaev is dead.... The suspension dots, customary in Russian obituaries, must represent the footprints of words that have departed on tiptoe, in reverent single file, leaving their tracks on the marble....”
—Vladimir Nabokov (18991977)
