Tokai Talbo Bass Guitar

The Talbo is a bass guitar, made by the Tokai Guitars company.

The Talbo brand was used for both guitars and basses which were first released in the early 1980s.

The Talbo Bass featured two significant design differences from other basses, the most prominent of which was a stylised aluminium body (which featured internal cavities), and secondly the TB-8AL circular pickup. Combining active circuitry with the metallic body, Tokai claimed that the sound was both unique and versatile, which was most notably used by guitarist Craig Boag from the experimental band SPARTAN, who were heavily influenced by Pink Floyd.

Tokai re-released the Talbo bass in the 2000s with the B135 model, claiming that the material used for producing the bass is the same that is used in a race car engines.

How are we to know that a Dracula is a key-pounding pianist who lifts his hands up to his face, or that a bass fiddle is the doghouse, or that shmaltz musicians are four-button suit guys and long underwear boys?

    Swiftly in the nights,
In the porches of Key West,
    Behind the bougainvilleas
    After the guitar is asleep,
    Lasciviously as the wind,
    You come tormenting.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)
