The type locality is the Todoroki mine, Akaigawa Village (25 km SW of Ginzan), Shiribeshi Province, Hokkaido, Japan. Type material is conserved at the Harvard Mineralogical Museum, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, reference 106214.
