Solubility
Todorokite is soluble in hydrochloric acid (HCl) with the evolution of chlorine (Cl2), and in concentrated sulfuric acid (H2SO4) forming a purple-red solution. It is also soluble in nitric acid (HNO3) forming a residue of manganese dioxide (MnO2).
