Biography
Robbins was born in Long Beach, California, the son of a soap executive and a schoolteacher. After earning a degree in theatre arts he went to the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. In 1980 he moved to New York City to pursue a career in theater. Instead he resurrected his interest in magic and carnivals and ended up working at Coney Island.
