Tlatoani
Tlatoani (Classical Nahuatl: tlàtoāni ; plural tlàtòquê, ) is the Nahuatl term for the ruler of an altepetl, a pre-Hispanic state. The word literally means "speaker", but may be translated into English as "king". A cihuātlàtoāni is a female ruler, or queen regnant.
