Grading System
At the moment there are three grades you can earn. The lowest grade is a P which means "in progress". If a student gets this grade on a test, it means that sooner or later the test needs to be re-taken because there were some parts (TSW's) that weren't mastered. Usually, when a student re-takes a test, he or she only has to complete those parts that he or she had trouble in. If the student is still not able to pass the test even till the end of the next unit, the P turns into a D or an H ("on hold") and the student is required to finish the unit in summer school at his or her own costs. The middle grade, which shows that the student has succeeded in the unit is a B. This means that the test has been completed, and the student isn't required to re-take the test. The highest grade you can get is an A, meaning that the student has gone "above and beyond" in the unit. Upgrading is possible. How to upgrade depends on the teacher, meaning that the student either has to do an A assignment or has to re-take the test. In secondary, the more A's you have, the better GPA you get (highest GPA score is a 4.0).

Famous quotes containing the words grading and/or system:
“The only phenomenon with which writing has always been concomitant is the creation of cities and empires, that is the integration of large numbers of individuals into a political system, and their grading into castes or classes.... It seems to have favored the exploitation of human beings rather than their enlightenment.”
—Claude Lévi-Strauss (b. 1908)
“The professional celebrity, male and female, is the crowning result of the star system of a society that makes a fetish of competition. In America, this system is carried to the point where a man who can knock a small white ball into a series of holes in the ground with more efficiency than anyone else thereby gains social access to the President of the United States.”
—C. Wright Mills (19161962)
