Simple Example

To demonstrate how to determine if a system is time-invariant then consider the two systems:

  • System A:
  • System B:

Since system A explicitly depends on t outside of and, it is not time-invariant. System B, however, does not depend explicitly on t so it is time-invariant.

Famous quotes containing the word simple:

Whenever a person strives, by the help of dialectic, to start in pursuit of every reality by a simple process of reason, independent of all sensuous information—never flinching, until by an act of the pure intelligence he has grasped the real nature of good—he arrives at the very end of the intellectual world.
    Plato (c. 427–347 B.C.)

    Such simple things,
And we make of them something so complex it defeats us,
Almost. Why can’t everything be simple again?...
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)
