Timbers Army

The Timbers Army is an independent supporters group of Portland Timbers, a football (soccer) club in Major League Soccer—the top tier of the United States soccer pyramid. Its members are known for their loud, enthusiastic support and the raucous atmosphere they create at Timbers games. Centered in section 107 of Jeld-Wen Field in Portland, Oregon, the Army has grown steadily over the years to encompass much of the north end of the stadium.

Famous quotes containing the words timbers and/or army:

The man who is rich in fancy thinks that his wagon is already built; poor fool, he does not know that there are a hundred timbers to a wagon.
    Hesiod (c. 8th century B.C.)

We should have an army so organized and so officered as to be capable in time of emergency, in cooperation with the National Militia, and under the provision of a proper national volunteer law, rapidly to expand into a force sufficient to resist all probable invasion from abroad and to furnish a respectable expeditionary force if necessary in the maintenance of our traditional American policy which bears the name of President Monroe.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)
