Shaw is close friends with Oakland Raiders tight end Kevin Boss. The two are represented by the same firm, XAM Sports, and were roommates while training in Florida prior to the 2007 NFL Draft. Shaw attended Boss' July 4, 2009, wedding.
Shaw is reportedly a Jigsaw puzzle enthusiast.
