Governance

Tilehurst is divided between the civil parish of Tilehurst in the district of West Berkshire and the electoral wards of Tilehurst and Kentwood (where Tilehurst railway station is located) in the unitary authority of Reading.

The electoral ward of Tilehurst is bounded by Norcot ward to the east and Kentwood ward to the north. In the Reading Council election, 2012, Councillor Meri O'Connell of the Liberal Democrats was elected.

Education governance in Tilehurst is split between West Berkshire Council and Reading Borough Council as their boundaries run through the suburb.

The parish is split between four churches—those of St Catherine, St George, St Mary Magdalen and St Michael.
