Ticket Resale - Selling Tickets at Auction

Selling Tickets At Auction

In September 2003, Ticketmaster announced plans to sell tickets in online auctions, which will bring the sale price of tickets closer to market prices. The New York Times reported that this could help the agency determine demand for a given event and more effectively compete with ticket resellers. As of 2011, Ticketmaster still sells tickets at auction in the United States. In addition, ticket sales through auctions have now spread to the secondary market; tickpick a secondary ticket marketplace started selling tickets through reverse auctions in 2011.

Online auction sites like eBay only enforce state ticketing laws if either the buyer and/or seller resides in the state where the event is taking place. Otherwise, there is no resell limit for tickets.

Famous quotes containing the words selling, tickets and/or auction:

So by all means let’s have a television show quick and long, even if the commercial has to be delivered by a man in a white coat with a stethoscope hanging around his neck, selling ergot pills. After all the public is entitled to what it wants, isn’t it? The Romans knew that and even they lasted four hundred years after they started to putrefy.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)

Charging a man with murder in this place was like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500.
John Milius, U.S. screenwriter, Francis Ford Coppola (b. 1939)

The white American man makes the white American woman maybe not superfluous but just a little kind of decoration. Not really important to turning around the wheels of the state. Well the black American woman has never been able to feel that way. No black American man at any time in our history in the United States has been able to feel that he didn’t need that black woman right against him, shoulder to shoulder—in that cotton field, on the auction block, in the ghetto, wherever.
    Maya Angelou (b. 1928)
