Student Life

Students at Thurgood Marshall strive for excellence in not only academics, but also in the many extracurricular activities provided for the student at TMA. There are nearly 25 different extra-curriculars at TMA, like Drama Club, Debate, Flag football, Anti-Defamation League, VYBE, The TMA Brief newspaper, and many others. The extra-curricular programs are mainly focused on student enrichment, community service or team-building activities. The school provides daily Homework Help for students from 3:30 to 5:45pm for anyone needing help with assignments.

Students compete in the Washington Charter School League in flag football, boys' and girls' basketball, and volleyball.

Famous quotes containing the words student and/or life:

But suppose, asks the student of the professor, we follow all your structural rules for writing, what about that “something else” that brings the book alive? What is the formula for that? The formula for that is not included in the curriculum.
    Fannie Hurst (1889–1968)

The great problem of American life [is] the riddle of authority: the difficulty of finding a way, within a liberal and individualistic social order, of living in harmonious and consecrated submission to something larger than oneself.... A yearning for self-transcendence and submission to authority [is] as deeply rooted as the lure of individual liberation.
Wilfred M. McClay, educator, author. The Masterless: Self and Society in Modern America, p. 4, University of North Carolina Press (1994)
