Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp (NJROTC)

There is a very good NJROTC program in Proctor, which was founded in 2001. Over 300 students are part of the program which is considered a regiment of cadets. Cadets volunteer around the community and learn the importance of leadership. The cadets make trips to about 3-5 schools a year for Regional Drill Meets where they compete with other JROTC schools in drill, academics, and athletics.

Each year the program holds a Military Birthday Bash, a Military Ball, and some traditional Naval Ceremonies like the Change of Command Ceremony and an Awards Ceremony.

Famous quotes containing the words navy, junior, reserve, officers and/or training:

Give me the eye to see a navy in an acorn. What is there of the divine in a load of bricks? What of the divine in a barber’s shop or a privy? Much, all.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The junior senator from Wisconsin, by his reckless charges, has so preyed upon the fears and hatreds and prejudices of the American people that he has started a prairie fire which neither he nor anyone else may be able to control.
    J. William Fulbright (b. 1905)

In a democracy—even if it is a so-called democracy like our white-élitist one—the greatest veneration one can show the rule of law is to keep a watch on it, and to reserve the right to judge unjust laws and the subversion of the function of the law by the power of the state. That vigilance is the most important proof of respect for the law.
    Nadine Gordimer (b. 1923)

Now for civil service reform. Legislation must be prepared and executive rules and maxims. We must limit and narrow the area of patronage. We must diminish the evils of office-seeking. We must stop interference of federal officers with elections. We must be relieved of congressional dictation as to appointments.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

The want of education and moral training is the only real barrier that exists between the different classes of men. Nature, reason, and Christianity recognize no other. Pride may say Nay; but Pride was always a liar, and a great hater of the truth.
    Susanna Moodie (1803–1885)
