Thomas Cochran (Nova Scotia Politician)

Thomas Cochran (1733 – July 28, 1801) was an Irish-born merchant and political figure in Nova Scotia. He represented Liverpool township in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1775 to 1785.

He was the son of Joseph Cochran. In 1775, he married his second wife, Augusta Jane Allan. Cochran served as speaker for the provincial assembly from November 1784 to October 1785. He was named the province's Council in June 1785 and served until his death in Halifax in 1801.

His brother William also served in the provincial assembly. His son Thomas served as the third Chief Justice of Prince Edward Island.
