Pope Benedict XVI, like his predecessors, intends to present the Word of God to his time. As Pope and Bishop of Rome he explains the message of Jesus Christ, utilizing in part the array of theological analysis, methods and axioms, for which he is well known. Famous quotes containing the words theology, pope and/or benedict:
“... the generation of the 20s was truly secular in that it still knew its theology and its varieties of religious experience. We are post-secular, inventing new faiths, without any sense of organizing truths. The truths we accept are so multiple that honesty becomes little more than a strategy by which you manage your tendencies toward duplicity.”
—Ann Douglas (b. 1942)
“I am his Highness dog at Kew;
Pray tell me, sir, whose dog are you?”
—Alexander Pope (16881744)

—Ruth Benedict (18871948)
