The Willy Wonka Candy Company

The Willy Wonka Candy Company is a brand of candy owned by and licensed by Nestlé S.A. using licensed materials from Roald Dahl's Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and its two film adaptations for their packaging and marketing. The brand started in 1971, coinciding with the release of the first film adaptation. They were bought by Nestlé in 1988.

The brand is used on a range of candies in North America and a range of chocolate bars in the United Kingdom. Nestlé also sells sweets and chocolate under the Willy Wonka brand in the Republic of Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Mexico and Brazil.

A number of the Wonka-branded products actually did originate in the book and later films, such as the Everlasting Gobstoppers and the Wonka Bar, while others were originally created or acquired for the brand.

Famous quotes containing the words candy and/or company:

I’m headed for a land that’s far away
    Beside the crystal fountains.
So come with me, we’ll go and see
    The Big Rock Candy Mountains.
—Unknown. The Big Rock Candy Mountains (l. 5–8)

The old idea that the joke was not good enough for the company has been superseded by the new aristocratic idea that the company was not worthy of the joke. They have introduced an almost insane individualism into that one form of intercourse which is specially and uproariously communal. They have made even levities into secrets. They have made laughter lonelier than tears.
    Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874–1936)
