The Two-Character Play - Performances

Performances

The play itself is rarely performed. A 30th Anniversary production was staged in Australia in 2005 at the University of Melbourne with siblings Stephen Ryan and Sarah Ryan playing the roles of Felice and Clare. For his performance as Felice, Stephen Ryan won the Murray Sutherland Prize for the most outstanding performance in a dramatic production at the University of Melbourne. San Francisco's Theatre Rhinoceros staged the show in January 2012.

The play was produced at London's Jermyn Street Theatre in October 2010. The production starred Catherine Cusack and Paul McEwan, and was directed by the then-Artistic Director of the theater, Gene David Kirk.

In May, 2011, Off-Broadway's Classic Stage Company (CSC) presented a one-night-only staged reading with Tony Award winner Alan Cumming and Tony nominee Jessica Hecht.

The Two-Character Play is scheduled for an Off Broadway production starting June 2013 at New World Stages. The production will star Tony Award winner Amanda Plummer and Oscar Nominee Brad Dourif. British director, Gene David Kirk, directs.

The play is set to be produced as a senior directorial at The College of William and Mary in October 2013.

Famous quotes containing the word performances:

This play holds the season’s record [for early closing], thus far, with a run of four evening performances and one matinee. By an odd coincidence it ran just five performances too many.
    Dorothy Parker (1893–1967)

At one of the later performances you asked why they called it a “miracle,”
Since nothing ever happened. That, of course, was the miracle
But you wanted to know why so much action took on so much life
And still managed to remain itself, aloof, smiling and courteous.
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)
