The Tube (radio Series)

The Tube was a 2000s pop/rock music radio series which resurrected the 1980s television series of the same name. It ran monthly from October 2006 to March 2007, always broadcasting on the first Friday of the Month. It was hosted by Blur Bassist Alex James, Blue Peter Presenter Konnie Huq, Factory Records founder and music mogul Tony Wilson and Emily Rose. It was made by Manchester based production company UK One Productions for Channel 4 Radio and produced by Tom Smetham and Stephen Chapman, founders of GNA Trading, the company behind Versus Cancer.

"The Tube Radio" brought critical acclaim and featured several world exclusives from artists -

REM, New Order, DJ Shadow, Kasabian, Keane, Jamie T, The Ting Tings, Enter Shikari, Lil Mama, Candie Payne, I am Kloot, Clinic, Elliot Minor, Simple Minds, The Revelations, Camera Obscura, The Sounds, Dragonette, Panda Bear, Peter & The Wolf, Dan Sartain, Headland, Vib Gyor, Akira The Don, Ripchord, Karima Francis, Stefy

Many of these artists were found as they were on the cusp of fame. Most have since enjoyed massive chart success and were almost unknown at the time of broadcast.

Famous quotes containing the word tube:

The last best hope of earth, two trillion dollars in debt, is spinning out of control, and all we can do is stare at a flickering cathode-ray tube as Ollie “answers” questions on TV while the press, resolutely irrelevant as ever, asks politicians if they have committed adultery. From V-J Day 1945 to this has been, my fellow countrymen, a perfect nightmare.
    Gore Vidal (b. 1925)
