The Ski Channel - Initial Launch Programming

Initial Launch Programming

The initial launch programming lineup included 30-minute episodic programs and feature films. Warren Miller had his film Steep and Deep as well as his Thrills and Spills television series. There were two episodes of Ride Guide. One episode was shot in Golmar, India and the other in Canada. There were two episodes of Skiers World that were shot in Europe. A film called AK The Hard Way featured 3 adventurers traveling in Alaska with their dog. And there was a film by the clothing company Marmot that featured paragliders in the Hymalayas. The entire block of programming was commercial free.

Famous quotes containing the words initial, launch and/or programming:

Capital is a result of labor, and is used by labor to assist it in further production. Labor is the active and initial force, and labor is therefore the employer of capital.
    Henry George (1839–1897)

Now launch the small ship, now as the body dies
and life departs, launch out, the fragile soul
in the fragile ship of courage, the ark of faith
with its store of food and little cooking pans
    and change of clothes,
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

If there is a price to pay for the privilege of spending the early years of child rearing in the driver’s seat, it is our reluctance, our inability, to tolerate being demoted to the backseat. Spurred by our success in programming our children during the preschool years, we may find it difficult to forgo in later states the level of control that once afforded us so much satisfaction.
    Melinda M. Marshall (20th century)
