Future Film
At one time, producer-directors Ron Howard and Steven Spielberg planned to remake the film with Kevin Anderson as Mitty, but the project fell through. A different production is under way at 20th Century Fox, starring Ben Stiller as Mitty. Kristen Wiig, Shirley MacLaine, Patton Oswalt, Adam Scott and Kathryn Hahn will also appear in the film. Filming has been taking place in Manhattan in May 2012 and in Iceland from July to September; the film's release is tentatively scheduled for Christmas 2013.

Famous quotes containing the words future and/or film:
“I am always glad to think that my education was, for the most part, informal, and had not the slightest reference to a future business career. It left me free and untrammeled to approach my business problems without the limiting influence of specific training.”
—Alice Foote MacDougall (1867–1945)
“Television does not dominate or insist, as movies do. It is not sensational, but taken for granted. Insistence would destroy it, for its message is so dire that it relies on being the background drone that counters silence. For most of us, it is something turned on and off as we would the light. It is a service, not a luxury or a thing of choice.”
—David Thomson, U.S. film historian. America in the Dark: The Impact of Hollywood Films on American Culture, ch. 8, William Morrow (1977)
