The Savage Nation

The Savage Nation (also called The Michael Savage Show) is an American radio show hosted by conservative commentator Michael Savage. At its peak in 2009, the program was heard by 8–10 million listeners a week and syndicated across the U.S. in over 300 markets, making it the third most listened to radio show in the country.

By April 2013, according to the radio industry's Talkers Magazine, Savage had 3.5+ million weekly listeners, putting him in a six-way tie for sixth place, with six talk show hosts getting 7.5+ million weekly listeners. However,in both the March and April 2013 "Talkers Heavy Hundred" Savage ranked at number five, between Glenn Beck #4, and Ed Schultz #6, as "most important" talk personality in U.S. radio."

Since 2009, Savage has been barred from entering the United Kingdom, for allegedly "seeking to provoke others to serious criminal acts and fostering hatred". This is the first time a list of names of people barred from entering the UK has been published. Also on that list of 22 people were "Islamic extremists, white supremacists," (KKK leaders,) and others. Since 2005, the UK has been able to ban people "who promote hatred, terrorist violence or serious criminal activity."

The show is based out of San Francisco, California and is syndicated through Cumulus Media Networks.

Famous quotes containing the words savage and/or nation:

Every civilization when it loses its inner vision and its cleaner energy, falls into a new sort of sordidness, more vast and more stupendous than the old savage sort. An Augean stable of metallic filth.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

Statecraft is soulcraft. Just as all education is moral education because learning conditions conduct, much legislation is moral legislation because it conditions the action and the thought of the nation in broad and important spheres of life.
    George F. Will (b. 1941)
