"The Salmon Dance" is a Hip hop/big beat song by the English electronic music duo The Chemical Brothers and is the 7th track on their 2007 studio album We Are the Night. It features vocals by Fatlip, a rapper who is a former member of the alternative rap group The Pharcyde and was released as the second single from the album on 10 September 2007. The video also features British actor Rory Jennings.
The video, directed by Dom & Nic, features a boy, under the effects of, presumably, LSD, looking at his fish tank, home to Fatlip the Piranha, Sammy the Salmon (although he is actually a squirrel fish), Puffa the beatboxing Pufferfish, a lionfish, seahorses, butterflyfish, angelfish, and tangs. It is featured in Season 3, Episode 3 The Black Clock of Time of Bored to Death.
The single has reached number ten on the New Zealand RIANZ singles chart, mainly due to downloads and airplay. Its video was also nominated for a MTV Europe Music Award in 2007.
