The Progressive

The Progressive is an American monthly magazine of politics, culture and progressivism with a pronounced liberal perspective. The current Editor-in-Chief of The Progressive is Matthew Rothschild. Notable Editor-in-Chiefs of the magazine include Bob La Follette; his son Robert Jr.; suffragette Belle Case La Follette; Capital Times founder William Evjue; and Morris Rubin. Its editorial offices are in Madison, Wisconsin.

Founded by former Governor of Wisconsin and member of the U.S. House of Representatives Robert M. La Follette on January 9, 1909, the magazine is known for its strong pacifism. It devotes much coverage to combating corporate power, civil rights and civil liberties, women's rights, labor rights, human rights, environmentalism, criminal justice reform, and democratic reform.
