The Prince's Seeing Is Believing - History

History

Seeing is Believing was born in 1990, from an initiative of HRH The Prince of Wales and Business in the Community to help regenerate the milltown of Halifax, West Yorkshire. The town had seen a decline in jobs and opportunities through the 1980s and HRH believed in the role the private sector could have in supporting its recovery.

He was convinced that if business leaders could see the issues faced by Halifax for themselves, then they could decide to support the town's regeneration. It is in this context that a group of senior business leaders was invited to visit Halifax in 1990. The visit was a great success as many of the businesses invited committed to help the town through its recovery.

As a result of this experience, HRH started Seeing is Believing, a unique programme of visits designed for business leaders and run by Business in the Community.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

“And now this is the way in which the history of your former life has reached my ears!” As he said this he held out in his hand the fatal letter.
    Anthony Trollope (1815–1882)

To history therefore I must refer for answer, in which it would be an unhappy passage indeed, which should shew by what fatal indulgence of subordinate views and passions, a contest for an atom had defeated well founded prospects of giving liberty to half the globe.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)

Social history might be defined negatively as the history of a people with the politics left out.
    —G.M. (George Macaulay)
