The first shop was opened by John Sotiriadis and Nelson Lang in 1995 near Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. In 1997, The Pita Pit started to expand within Canada and in 1999 they began franchising in the United States. There are about 350 restaurants across the United States and Canada. The restaurants are usually located in college towns and are often open late.
