The Pingle School - Uniform

Uniform

At Pingle, Years 7 to 11 must wear the full school uniform of a black jumper; bearing the school logo, a white plain shirt, the school tie, plain black trousers and plain black shoes. Girls are permitted to wear a plain black skirt in place of the trousers.

Years 12 and 13 (sixth formers) have no set uniform and may attend school in whatever clothes they wish, as long as they are sensible and do not bear offensive slogans.

Famous quotes containing the word uniform:

We know, Mr. Weller—we, who are men of the world—that a good uniform must work its way with the women, sooner or later.
    Charles Dickens (1812–1870)

He may be a very nice man. But I haven’t got the time to figure that out. All I know is, he’s got a uniform and a gun and I have to relate to him that way. That’s the only way to relate to him because one of us may have to die.
    James Baldwin (1924–1987)

Iconic clothing has been secularized.... A guardsman in a dress uniform is ostensibly an icon of aggression; his coat is red as the blood he hopes to shed. Seen on a coat-hanger, with no man inside it, the uniform loses all its blustering significance and, to the innocent eye seduced by decorative colour and tactile braid, it is as abstract in symbolic information as a parasol to an Eskimo. It becomes simply magnificent.
    Angela Carter (1940–1992)
