Famous quotes containing the words people, flag, palest and/or pink:

Quite frankly, if you bed people of belowstairs class, they go to the papers.
Jane Clark, British millionaire politician’s wife. As quoted in Newsweek magazine, p. 15 (June 13, 1994)

Columbus stood in his age as the pioneer of progress and enlightenment. Let the national flag float over every schoolhouse in the country and the exercises be such as shall impress upon our youth the patriotic duties of American citizenship.
    Benjamin Harrison (1833–1901)

The palest ink is better than the best memory.
    Chinese proverb.

    All night your moth-breath
Flickers among the flat pink roses. I wake to listen:
A far sea moves in my ear.
    Sylvia Plath (1932–1963)
