The New Adventures of Superman (TV Series) - DVD and Video Releases

DVD and Video Releases

In 1985, Warner Home Video released seven selected episodes of the series on VHS in the "Super Powers" video collection along with Aquaman, Batman, and Superboy. These videos were re-released in 1996 and are out of print.

In 2007, Warner Home Video released a two-disc DVD of The New Adventures of Superman as part of the "DC Comics Classic Collection", a brand which also includes the Aquaman and guest star shorts from Superman/Aquaman and the Batman shorts from Batman/Superman. However, only the first 36 Superman shorts were ever released; the lack of Superboy is due to the ongoing legal battle between Warner Bros. and the estate of Jerry Siegel over the rights to the "Superboy" name, but the lack of the later Superman content from Superman/Aquaman and Batman/Superman is unclear.

Famous quotes containing the words video and/or releases:

We attempt to remember our collective American childhood, the way it was, but what we often remember is a combination of real past, pieces reshaped by bitterness and love, and, of course, the video past—the portrayals of family life on such television programs as “Leave it to Beaver” and “Father Knows Best” and all the rest.
    Richard Louv (20th century)

We need a type of theatre which not only releases the feelings, insights and impulses possible within the particular historical field of human relations in which the action takes place, but employs and encourages those thoughts and feelings which help transform the field itself.
    Bertolt Brecht (1898–1956)
