The MANIAC Challenge

The Mobile Ad-hoc Networking Interoperability And Cooperation (MANIAC) Challenge is a multi-institution team competition with participants forming a real-world mobile ad hoc network. The objective of the competition is to observe the trade-offs experienced by teams in focusing towards delivery of their own packets versus cooperating in forwarding other teams' packets, essential in a mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) to permit delivery across the network, at the expense of consuming their limited resources (battery life, bandwidth).

The competition was held on two days, 25–26 November 2007 along with IEEE GLOBECOM in Washington,DC.

Famous quotes containing the words maniac and/or challenge:

I can understand German as well as the maniac that invented it, but I talk it best through an interpreter.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)

She might have been old once and now, miraculously, young again—but with the memory of that other life intact. She seemed to know the world down there in the dark hall and beyond for what it was. Yet knowing, she still longed to leave this safe, sunlit place at the top of the house for the challenge there.
    Paule Marshall (b. 1929)
