Funding
The show is primarily funded by the National Science Foundation and by Microsoft Home/Microsoft, with additional funding from the United States Department of Energy and the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and the viewers/stations of PBS also provided additional funding for the show during Seasons 2, 3 and 4.
