- This was the first script sold by writers Glen Charles and Les Charles, who went on to produce and write for several sitcoms before co-creating Cheers.
- The season 2 episode "A Smattering of Intelligence" features a character named Captain Pratt, an old friend of Trapper John's turned Army intelligence officer. He is played by a different actor in that episode, however, and since this episode's Captain Pratt and Hawkeye don't recognize one another he is apparently a completely different character
- Pratt's usage of the term "unperson" is incorrect. In Nineteen Eighty-Four, an "unperson" was someone who had been killed by the state and erased from existence. Hawkeye was neither dead nor erased from existence; he was simply misreported as being dead.
- Although listed in the opening credits, neither Loretta Swit (Margaret) nor Gary Burghoff (Radar) appear in this episode.
- This is one of the only times following the departure of Wayne Rogers and McLean Stevenson from the series that their characters are referenced. As Hawkeye remarks to B.J., the wounded will continue to arrive even if he leaves the 4077th: "Trapper went home and they're still coming. Henry got killed and they're still coming."
