Famous quotes containing the words the last, voyage and/or columbus:

Buy good books, and read them; the best books are the commonest, and the last editions are always the best, if the editors are not blockheads.
Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl Chesterfield (1694–1773)

The world’s a ship on its voyage out, and not a voyage complete; and the pulpit is its prow.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

The only history is a mere question of one’s struggle inside oneself. But that is the joy of it. One need neither discover Americas nor conquer nations, and yet one has as great a work as Columbus or Alexander, to do.
